Description
This is Emrys, one of my Alien Human Hybrids, when he was inside his incubating sphere, before he ever knew the cold outside world and all the pain it would have to offer.
Emrys is unique from the other Hybrids created on the space station he was born on, in that he was stolen from his mother’s womb, and genetically altered later. He’s one of the first alien human hybrids to have actually been conceived naturally. Sadly, his mother was captured before she even knew she was pregnant, and was rescued to late to save Emrys, as he’d already been removed and placed inside an incubator for better observation and testing. She wouldn’t even know she ever had a son till 18 years later and some time after they had met.
He’s not quite fully developed here, his spots haven’t shown up, nor have any sign of his arm blades, ect. Really he wasn’t altered that much though. To the surprise of the scientists working in the hybrid department, he was perfectly formed, no mutations or deformities of any kind as they’d found to be a problem in past attempts of trying to create a being like him.
This piece is very special to me, and very personal in a way. It makes me kind of sad when I look at it still, knowing the life he’ll have to live through after he’s born, and seeing him here so small and innocent, untainted by the outside world and the cruelty he will have to endure. Emrys in a lot of ways I regard as a son myself, and he’s very close to my heart. In a way, I feel guilty having written his life so horrible and sad, I have all the power, I could give him any life, make up any scenario… but happily ever after and fairytale stories aren’t real. One day though, Emrys will find happiness, and I take comfort in that, but he has a long journey ahead of him before then.
